Commemorative notes issued by the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the Return of Macau to the People’s Republic of China

BNU, as one of Macau's note-issuing banks, celebrates the 20th Anniversary of Return of Macau to the People’s Republic of China by issuing a commemorative note with a face value of twenty patacas.

With a predominantly blue-violet color, the main feature of the notes is the design of the sculpture “Lotus Flower in Full Bloom”, which symbolizes the prosperity and success of Macau. Also featured is the image of the issuing bank building, representing the growth that Macau has been achieving along with the note-issuing banks and the support given to the healthy development of Macau's economy.

On the back of the notes, the main image is of the “Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge”, highlighting the “Chinese Knot” Tower of the Qingzhou navigation channel bridge, located on Ilha Verde, for combining traditional and modern characteristics. This illustration is also intended to symbolize the friendly understanding that exists between Macau and Mainland China in the economy, culture and various other aspects.

This issuance quota of new commemorative banknotes is of 5 million. Each local resident can apply for up to 10 banknotes.
